Industrial Battery Storage for Kryvyi Rih: From Grid Survey to Commissioning
You run a mining or metallurgical operation in Kryvyi Rih. Your grid connection is under DTEK Dnipro Electric Grids, and the technical conditions (TU) define what you can do. Before we talk kWh, let's check what your site actually needs.
Key parameters
Step 1: What to Measure On-Site
Start with a load profile. For a 10 MW ore processing plant, you'll need 15-minute interval data for at least a full week. Without that, any capacity figure is rough. We measure at 0.4 kV, 6 kV, and 10 kV busbars, depending on your transformer layout.
Check power quality: voltage dips from quarry equipment, harmonics from variable frequency drives. These affect BMS and EMS settings. Also measure ambient temperature inside your electrical rooms — LiFePO4 cells derate above 35°C.
Step 2: Documents to Pull
Gather your current TU from DTEK Dnipro Electric Grids. That document specifies your permitted connection capacity, voltage level, and protection requirements. Also pull single-line diagrams, load schedules, and your energy bills for the last 12 months.
If you have a demand charge in UAH/kW, we need that tariff structure. If you're on a two-zone tariff, we need the time-of-use rates. Without these, payback calculations are fiction.
Step 3: Grid Constraints to Verify
DTEK Dnipro Electric Grids will review your connection application. They check if your BESS can export to the grid or if it's behind-the-meter only. In Kryvyi Rih, most industrial sites are behind-the-meter, so we size for peak shaving and backup, not arbitrage.
At 0.4 kV, you're limited to ~250 kW per feeder. For larger systems, you'll need a 6 kV or 10 kV connection. Verify transformer spare capacity — a 1 MW BESS can overload a 630 kVA transformer if not properly integrated.
Step 4: The Solution, Sized to Your Site
We design containerized BESS from 50 kW to 5 MW. For a typical 3 MW load with 1-hour peak, a 1 MW / 1.5 MWh system (LiFePO4, CATL cells) gives you 2 hours of backup. With liquid cooling and IP55/C4 outdoor cabinets, it can sit next to your existing substation.
Our EMS/SCADA integrates with your existing PLCs. You'll see state of charge, power output, and savings in UAH/kWm. We handle everything: audit, design, supply, installation, commissioning, and service from Kyiv.
We are not official distributors of any brand. We source Tier-1 cells and build systems that meet DTEK's technical requirements.
Step 5: What We Don't Do
We don't do residential storage. For home systems, contact SolarProm.com.ua. We also don't promise savings without data. If your load profile doesn't show a clear peak, we will tell you that BESS may not pay back.
But if your demand charges are high and you have frequent voltage dips from quarry equipment, a BESS is a solid investment. We can provide a feasibility study with real numbers from your site.
