Industrial Battery Energy Storage in Kropyvnytskyi

Kropyvnytskyi sits on a grid that was designed for the last century. For agribusiness and machine builders, power quality is not an abstraction - it is the difference between a clean shift and a spoiled batch. We design and build BESS that pay for themselves by shaving peaks and bridging faults.

What Your Grid Does to Your Budget

Kirovohradoblenergo publishes tariffs with two-part pricing: capacity and energy. If your plant draws 800 kW for 15 minutes during the morning peak, you pay for that 800 kW all month, even if the rest of the day you sit at 300 kW. For a grain elevator running dryers in autumn, that peak can add hundreds of thousands of hryvnias to the bill.

Voltage dips are another hidden cost. In industrial zones near 35 kV lines, a brief dip can reset a CNC machine or trip a variable-frequency drive. The result: scrap parts, restart time, and angry customers.

How Storage Closes the Gap

A BESS with a proper EMS monitors your load in real time. When your draw approaches the contracted limit, it discharges for 15-30 minutes, shaving the peak. When demand drops, it recharges at night. That is the core cycle.

Beyond peak shaving, the same unit can provide backup for critical loads. For an oil extraction plant, a 10-second outage can mean a stuck press and a cleanup that takes hours. With a BESS and a transfer switch, you get seamless transition - no downtime, no product loss.

What Actually Works in Kirovohrad Oblast

We have done feasibility studies for agricultural machinery plants and grain storage facilities in the region. At 0.4 kV, you can only shave loads up to about 400 kW per feeder; beyond that, you need a 10 kV connection. Most of our clients go with 500 kW / 1 MWh containers or 1 MW / 2 MWh units, placed next to the transformer substation.

Connection is handled through Kirovohradoblenergo. They approve the technical conditions (TU) for your site. We prepare the full package: single-line diagrams, protection coordination, and an application that meets their requirements. In our experience, approval takes 4-8 weeks if the paperwork is clean.

The Numbers You Can Take to Your CFO

For a typical grain elevator with a 630 kVA transformer, a 300 kW / 600 kWh BESS reduces monthly demand charges by 20-35%. Payback is 3.5-5 years at current tariffs, assuming two cycles per day. Without a load profile, that figure is rough - but we will not sell you a system without one.

For an oil extraction plant with a 1.5 MW load, a 1 MW / 2 MWh unit can also participate in frequency regulation. Kirovohradoblenergo allows this if you have an approved metering scheme. That adds a second revenue stream.

  • Peak shaving: saves 15-30% on capacity charges
  • Backup: prevents losses from voltage dips
  • Demand response: earns income if you have the right meter

How We Deliver, and What We Do Not Do

We are BESS Ukraine Engineering Group, a full-cycle EPC contractor. Our scope: audit, design, supply, installation, commissioning, and service. We use LiFePO4 cells from CATL and other Tier-1 manufacturers, liquid cooling, BMS, EMS/SCADA, in IP55/C4 outdoor cabinets or 20/40 ft containers. For 50 kW to 5 MW, we handle everything.

We do not install residential systems - for that, contact SolarProm.com.ua. And we are not an authorized distributor of any brand; we integrate what fits your site. Call +380 44 339-50-20 or write engineering@bess.com.ua. We will start with a load profile analysis, free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get connection from Kirovohradoblenergo?
For a BESS up to 1 MW, the TU approval usually takes 4-8 weeks. We prepare the technical documentation and submit it for you. The actual grid connection work is done by Kirovohradoblenergo after you sign the contract.
Can you integrate a BESS with my existing solar panels?
Yes, if you have PV. The BESS can store excess solar energy for use in the evening peak. We will need your PV output profile to size the battery correctly. Without that, the system may be under- or oversized.
What is the minimum size you recommend for a grain elevator?
For a typical 500-800 kW load, we start at 250 kW / 500 kWh. That covers peak shaving for 2 hours. For smaller facilities, a 100 kW unit might work, but the payback is longer. We always run a simulation first.
Do you provide financing or leasing?
We do not provide financing directly, but we can give you the technical documentation needed to apply for a bank loan or leasing. Ukrainian banks often accept BESS as collateral. We can also structure the project as an EPC contract with milestone payments.
What happens if the battery fails?
We include a 10-year performance warranty on the battery cells. Our service team is based in Kyiv and can respond within 48 hours. We also offer remote monitoring via EMS/SCADA, so we often know about issues before you do.
