Normal Working Day: Smoothing Peaks and Saving on Demand Charges

At 07:50, your nitrogen fertiliser plant starts its compressors. The load jumps from 1.2 MW to 2.1 MW in 15 seconds. Without storage, you pay the demand charge for that 2.1 MW peak for the whole month. With a 1 MW / 2 MWh BESS, the system discharges at 0.9 MW for 20 minutes, shaving the peak to 1.2 MW.
